Exergy Innovations Private Limited, supported by DRISHTI CPS under PRAYAS, is advancing industrial heating technology with its Sustainable Melting and Affordable Recuperator Technology (SMART) Furnace. This innovative solution addresses critical challenges in metal casting industries by introducing a new approach to energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and operational sustainability.

The traditional metal melting furnaces have long struggled with inefficient energy consumption, high fuel costs, and significant environmental impact. The SMART Furnace emerges as a comprehensive solution that tackles these fundamental industrial challenges directly. By integrating advanced waste heat recovery technology, the furnace substantially improves heating efficiency while reducing fuel consumption and hazardous gas emissions.

Initiated in 2015 by a former faculty member turned entrepreneur and supported by the Department of Science and Technology under the DSIR PRISM scheme, the project began with a vision to improve industrial heating technologies. Initial trials conducted with Prakash Alloy Udhyog in Jagadhari, Haryana, proved remarkably successful, demonstrating a 41% increase in energy efficiency and a 10% reduction in fuel consumption. A key technological breakthrough was the integration of an Arduino-based circuit for real-time monitoring, enabling continuous tracking of furnace performance and precise fuel optimization.

The SMART Furnace’s unique design ensures complete fuel combustion, creating a healthier work environment by significantly reducing hazardous gas emissions. Currently standing 45% more efficient than conventional metal melting furnaces, the technology has gained significant traction in industrial hubs like Punjab. Foundry clusters in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Amritsar are rapidly adopting this innovative technology across diverse industries, including auto parts manufacturing, utensil production, and valve fabrication.

Future developments include the integration of PLC systems and a mobile application for remote monitoring, promising to further streamline industrial heating processes. The technology represents a critical solution for industries seeking to reduce their carbon footprint while improving operational efficiency.
