Limited is transforming diagnostic healthcare with its flagship product, Tele Operated
Robotic Ultrasound System (TORUS). Designed to enable remote ultrasound operations,
TORUS eliminates the need for a radiologist’s physical presence by combining a doctor’s
station with intuitive controls and a patient station equipped with a robotic arm. These are
connected via a secure communication network, allowing expert-guided ultrasound
diagnostics to be performed in real-time from virtually any location.
In India, the limited availability of ultrasound services, especially in remote and
underserved regions, continues to challenge timely healthcare delivery. The mandatory
physical presence of a radiologist restricts diagnostic access and contributes to delays in
treatment. TORUS addresses this challenge by bringing remote diagnostic capability to
the forefront, ensuring that patients, regardless of location, can access expert-level care
when they need it most.
The product has already shown strong potential. In market research involving 52 doctors
and 100 patients from rural areas, 80% of doctors said they were willing to refer patients
to the system, and 70% of radiologists expressed interest in using the device remotely.
90% believed it would significantly reduce their travel time, while 76% of patients were
more willing to undergo the test due to reduced cost and travel needs. These numbers
reflect a growing readiness in both healthcare providers and patients to adopt innovative,
remote diagnostic technologies.
TORUS is currently in the pilot stage, with clinical trial applications in process. With the
support of DRISHTI CPS, PlebC is collaborating with AIIMS Bhopal and Apollo
Hospitals, and has already established a clinical partnership with AIIMS Bhubaneswar. In
addition to its healthcare initiatives, the startup has also delivered technology solutions to
key clients, including the Engineering Staff College of India for a customized linear
transmission system and Professional Design Services.
